A 40-unit residential building in Provincetown that mixes affordable and market-rate apartments to help ease the town’s housing shortage.
The building offers studios, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments for year-round residents. Its three stories are topped by a set-back penthouse, which lowers the apparent height and keeps it in step with its neighbors. Stepped sections break up the east façade, while wood siding and traditional detailing bring the scale down further in a way that feels both contemporary and true to Provincetown.
Life outdoors is built into the plan. Porches, clusters of outdoor seating, pedestrian paths, bicycle parking and native landscaping give residents places to gather and help the building feel like a neighborhood rather than a single block.
