Michael Darby
Principal · Registered architect, MassachusettsMichael is a licensed architect in Massachusetts whose approach to design was shaped by working on projects of all scales. From small renovations to large institutional buildings, he believes the size of a project has little to do with the care and attention it deserves. Michael is a professor at the Boston Architectural College (BAC), and received his BS in Architecture from Virginia Tech.
His work balances technical detail with thoughtful design, creating spaces that are functional, durable and responsive to the people who use them. Michael is experienced in multiple building types, including single-family homes, multifamily housing, institutional buildings, and renovations.
Prior to founding Studio 581, Michael worked at Machado Silvetti, Szostak Design, Hobgood Architects and Jill Neubauer Architects.
Studio 581 is based in Boston and takes on projects in Massachusetts and beyond.
